Suicide Silence's Mitch Lucker Killed in Motorcycle Crash
By Gregory AdamsMitch Lucker, singer for Riverside, CA metalcore act Suicide Silence, passed away early this morning (November 1) from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident last night. He was 28 years old.

News of the passing came from the Press-Enterprise, who reported that the Orange County coroner's office pronounced Lucker dead at UCI Medical Center. Details on the crash have yet been delivered, but the incident allegedly occurred around 9 p.m. local time last night in the Huntington Beach area, and Lucker was hospitalized shortly thereafter.

Suicide Silence haven't issued a statement on the singer's passing yet, and the band's website is currently down. An outpouring of support has come in from fans and friends over Twitter.

UPDATE: The band have now issued the following statement: "There's no easy way to say this. Mitch passed away earlier this morning from injuries sustained during a motorcycle accident. This is completely devastating to all of us and we offer our deepest condolences to his family. He will be forever in our hearts. R.I.P. Mitchell Adam Lucker. We love you, brother."

"Wow. Rip to our brother Mitch. Our hearts and thoughts go out to our Suicide Silence dudes and the Lucker family. We love you guys," reads a tweet from Boston's Vanna, while Falling in Reverse added, "R.I.P. @SuicideSilence Singer @MitchLuckerSS great band, great dude. You will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his Family."

Lucker helped found Suicide Silence in 2002. While the band initially featured two vocalists, Lucker took the mic over completely when Tanner Womack left the band before the group recorded their first demo.

The group have released three full-length efforts, with the most recent being 2011's The Black Crown, which Exclaim! described as an "explosion of rage." Of Lucker's vocals, we gave praise over how his "vocals switch between a shattering scream and crushing growl that sounds like a demon unleashed."
