By Alex HudsonBrooklyn, NY songstress Sharon Van Etten ended 2010 on a high note, releasing the well-received sophomore LP Epic in September and touring North America in support of Junip. In 2011, she will be embarking upon a tour of her own, as well as continuing work on a new album, with Aaron Dessner of the National.
Following a handful of U.S. dates this month, Van Etten will head to Europe for a tour with the National. After 13 shows overseas, she will return to this side of the Atlantic and embark upon a lengthy headlining jaunt. This North American trip has three Canadian stops: Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal.
Although she's been touring non-stop, Van Etten somehow managed to find enough time to record some new material. According to a press release, the songwriter spent has spent her precious free moments "starting to record more intimately heart-wrenching songs in the Brooklyn garage-turned-studio of the National's Aaron Dessner."
There's no word on when Van Etten plans to release her latest material, but she has a brief break in late January through early February, so perhaps she will use that time to continue recording.
