Since making a name for himself as the guitarist of the iconic Roxy Music, Phil Manzanera has also had a productive solo career. On November 8, he'll continue on with that solo work with the release of his latest album, Corroncho.

For the album, which is being released via MVD Entertainment Group, the new songs are sung in Spanish and were made in collaboration with Colombian artist Lucho Brieva, with whom Manzanera worked from 2003 to 2008. It's a concept album about two corroncho characters, which a press release explains "is the Colombian slightly pejorative name given by people from the capital, Bogota, to people from the Carribean Coast, particularly Barranquilla, which is politically incorrect but humorous."
The album is said to be about the characters' "trials and tribulations, good and bad points, loves and hates, political correctness and incorrectness but ultimately their good humour, good heart and ability to dance, all illuminating the many social issues in present day South Americas."
Among the high-profile guests on this cumbia-tinged disc are Robert Wyatt, Chrissie Hynde, Annie Lennox, Roxy Music drummer Paul Thompson, Spanish songwriter Enrique Bunbury and Israeli saxophonist Gilad Atzmon.
