Red Hot Chili Peppers' Josh Klinghoffer Preps Debut Album with Dot Hacker
By Alex HudsonJosh Klinghoffer's life has become very busy since joining the Red Hot Chili Peppers as guitarist John Frusciante's replacement -- just look at the band's epic tour schedule. But that isn't stopping the axe-man from fronting his own project, Dot Hacker. That four-piece band will release their debut album, Inhibition, on May 1 via ORG Music.

Klinghoffer's bandmates have been involved in some high-profile projects in their own right: Clint Walsh has played guitar with Gnarls Barkley; Eric Gardner has drummed for Gnarls Barkley, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Street Sweeper Social Club; and Jonathan Hischke was a member of Hella and played with Broken Bells.

A press release describes Dot Hacker's music as "architectural, built on a foundation of bold, manipulated tones and supported by lush eclectic textures and angular rhythm."

You can get a taste of this by downloading "Order/Disorder" here and "Inhibition" here, which sound a bit like Deerhunter on an alt-rock kick. A live video of the former tune is embedded at the bottom of this page.

Inhibition will be available digitally and on CD and LP. A limited edition of 200 black, white and blue swirled vinyl copies will be available for pre-order from the ORG Music website.

Dot Hacker plan to play some shows in 2012 in support of the album, but remember that they'll have the RHCP live schedule to contend with, so you probably shouldn't expect a major tour.
