By Gregory AdamsLate last year, we learned that Beck was helping put together a remix album for Philip Glass to help commemorate the avant-garde composer's 75th birthday. Technically, that event took place last January, but fans can celebrate all the same on their own schedules when Rework: Philip Glass Remixed hits retailers October 23 through Orange Mountain Music/Ernest Jenning/The Kora Records.
As previously reported, the project features newly tweaked versions of Glass's work from artists like Beck, Amon Tobin, Cornelius and former Battles member Tyondai Braxton. The tracklist reveals that Rework: Philip Glass Remixed is a two-disc set that also features contributions from Dan Deacon, Memory Tapes, Nosaj Thing Johann Johannsson and Pantha du Prince.
As we previously told you, a remix of "Koyaanisqatsi" courtesy of Oneohtrix Point Never was rejected, but the soundsmith premiered the track on WFMU in the spring. You can hear that piece here.
