By Alex HudsonBack in 2010, Neil Young lost some precious archival materials when one of his own hybrid cars sparked a warehouse fire in San Carlos, CA. Now, to add insult to injury, Young's car company, LincVolt, has been slapped with a lawsuit in response to the blaze.
The insurance company is charging LincVolt with negligence in converting a 1959 Lincoln Continental car to run on electricity and biodiesel fuel. The suit alleges, "The altering of a gas-powered 1959 vehicle and its components is an extreme departure from what a reasonably careful person would do." Unigard reportedly had to pay $482,000 to the owner of the building after the blaze.
The fire has already been very costly for Young. The damages were originally estimated to be around $1 million.
