Ronnie James Dio Honoured with 'This Is Your Life' Tribute Comp Featuring Metallica, Anthrax, Motörhead
By Gregory AdamsNews of a star-studded tribute disc to the the late metal great Ronnie James Dio surfaced a few years back, but the record is finally on its way. Featuring covers filed by the likes of Metallica, Anthrax and Motörhead, Ronnie James Dio: This Is Your Life arrives April 1 through Rhino.

A press release notes that the collection hits on several parts of Dio's long and illustrious career, whether with Rainbow, Black Sabbath or his eponymous run as Dio. Metallica wrap four Rainbow songs into a neat little package for their "Ronnie Rising Medley," which includes "A Light in the Black," "Tarot Woman," "Stargazer" and "Kill the King." Motörhead, meanwhile, team up with Saxon's Biff Byford for a cover of the band's "Starstruck."

Dio's Black Sabbath period is toasted by Anthrax via a new version of Heaven and Hell's "Neon Knights," while Dio's early '80s output with his own Dio is celebrated by Tenacious D, Halestorm and more. While most of the selections are exclusive to the release, it also features Killswitch Engage's cover of Dio's "Holy Diver," originally issued on a Kerrang! compilation in 2006.

Other contributors include Slipknot's Corey Taylor, Rob Halford and Deep Purple/Black Sabbath's Glenn Hughes, while Dio himself closes out the collection with the title track, a mortality-exploring ballad taken from his 1996 LP Angry Machines.

You can find out all the tracklisting info down below.

Proceeds from album sales will go towards the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund, co-founded by his widow Wendy Dio to support cancer research and awareness and to promote the importance of early detection and prevention of cancer. Ronnie James Dio died in 2010 after a battle with stomach cancer.

Been waiting for this for a couple years now. Metallica medley!?!?! Awesome! I wish they would of added Robb Flynn's cover of Die Young. That cover is amazing.
