Lou Reed Gets His Own Signature Headphones
By Alex HudsonLou Reed's work with the Velvet Underground is among the most influential music in rock history, but he is fast becoming a punch line thanks to his terrible collaboration with Metallica, disastrous Montreal Jazz Festival performance and high-frequency dog concert. (Okay, that last one was kind of cool.) Now, Lou has launched his latest head-scratching project: a pair of his own signature headphones.

Yup, just like Dr. Dre, Daft Punk and Jack White, the dude behind the static-soaked classic White Light/White Heat is releasing his own headphones. We're confused too.

The headphones are made by Klipsch as a variation on its X10i line of earbuds. They cost $400, which is $50 more than the usual X10i model.

In the product description on Klipsch's website, Lou said, "I have been a fan of Klipsch for eons. I enjoy the beauty of the unhyped bass -- the clarity and depth of detail and extraordinary comfort of the headphones. These are my Klipsch. Serious headphones for the serious listener."

The headphones come with a three-button remote and 360-degree microphone, which might come in handy if you're using this with your iPhone. Here's the actually kind of cool part: every package comes with a Lou Reed autograph, and the first 50 buyers will get a bonus signed CD.

The headphones will be released next month. Head over to Klipsch's website for more information, just in case there happens to be anyone on your Christmas list who might be more excited by this than we are.

Montreal Jazz show was fucking good, a real good improvisation set. All three of them were in top shape. Fuck those baby-boomers who wanted Lou to play songs from the 60s!
seems like everyone and their grandma is getting earphone named after them...
