A post on the band's website confirms that a spit-shined edition of the LP arrives this November, though a specific due date has yet to be delivered. The press release explains that the band tracked down the master tapes to the 2003 album in an attempt to deliver the record "how they had originally intended it to be." Apparently, while crushing in many aspects, the band were never truly happy with how the album turned out. The remix and remastering job was handled by producer Josh Wilbur.
"We are lucky to have the opportunity, a decade after our first attempt, to bring what I consider to be our master work up to speed sonically," drummer Chris Adler said in a statement. "Ever since the original release we've been distraught about the sonic qualities of As the Palaces Burn. The band had captured lightening in a bottle and the budget limitation of a sophomore album turned our lightening into a firefly in a jar. The songs are undeniable and we've always been very proud of how this album launched our career. It feels appropriate to revisit now that we can and give this very special album the chance to reach our original hopes and its true potential."
In addition to the remastered tracks, this latest edition also includes previously unreleased demo versions of "Ruin," "As the Palaces Burn" and "Blood Junkie." Both LP and CD versions of the anniversary release will include the previously announced documentary about the making of the LP. The film features behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with band members, Wilbur and original album producer Devin Townsend.
You can see a trailer for the set down below.
Though an exact ETA remains up in the air, the band are already taking pre-order for the set. While it's available as a single CD/DVD or LP on "smoke swirl" coloured vinyl, deluxe pre-order packages also include shirts, shot glasses and more. You'll find the details over here.
As for Lamb of God's upcoming tour, the trip kicks off October 22 in Toronto, with additional Canadian dates taking place in Montreal, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary and Saskatoon. See the dates here.
