Justice, The Avalanches, Massive Attack Team Up for King Kong Musical
By Josiah HughesWhile we're still awaiting more details on their promised follow-up to Since I Left You, Australian turntablists the Avalanches have unveiled another exciting project that they're contributing to. Alongside Justice, Massive Attack and Sarah McLachlin, they'll contribute to a new musical adaptation of King Kong.

The sure-to-be-epic production will feature "modernized musical standards from the world's best contemporary artists." That list includes the aforementioned batch of artists along with an original score from Marius deVries, who has worked with Massive Attack, Björk and the Sneaker Pimps.

In a video interview, which can be streamed below, Justice's Gaspard Augé describes the musical as "the perfect match for [us]. It has a very theatrical and epic feel."

Aside from the banging soundtrack, the musical will include a giant mechanical Kong (see above) as well as projections and circus performers.

The King Kong musical is set to kick off in June of 2013 in Melbourne, Australia. A 30-minute preview of the show is available on the project's official site.

Thanks to In the Mix for the heads up.
