Joey Ramone to Receive New Posthumous Album

By Alex HudsonRamones frontman Joey Ramone never released a solo LP during his lifetime, but the lanky punk legend is set to receive his second posthumous collection since his death in 2001. Following 2002's Don't Worry About Me, the new 17-song demos collection is called Ya Know?, and it will be out May 15.

Rolling Stone reveals that the album is composed of songs intended for the Ramones, plus ones penned after the group's 1996 breakup. The recordings were completed by producers including Ed Stasium and Jean Beauvoir, and guest musicians like Joan Jett, drummer Richie Ramone, Steven Van Zandt of the E Street Band, members of Cheap Trick and the Dictators, and Joey's brother Mickey Leigh.

The album reportedly branches out from the Ramones punk rock style and includes the country ballad "Waiting for That Railroad," a slowed-down version of "Merry Christmas (I Don't Want to Fight Tonight)" and the gentle "Trembling."

The album remained in limbo until 2009 due to negotiations over demos originally recorded with producer Daniel Rey. Eventually, the remaining overdubs were completed in 2010.
