By Alex HudsonBack in 2002, we called Interpol's Turn on the Bright Lights "easily the best debut album that will cross anyone's path this year." We weren't alone in our praise, and the New York band became indie sensations. Now, a decade later, Interpol are planning to reissue the album for its 10th anniversary, with the re-release due out on November 20 via Matador.
Not only has the original album been remastered, but it will come loaded with a second disc containing bonus goodies. There are 17 extra tracks in all, which are largely culled from demos and a Peel Session.
Additionally, both the double-CD and double-LP versions of the album will come with a bonus DVD. This includes music videos and footage from a pair of concerts (one in New York in 2000 and one in L.A. in 2002).
In a statement, guitarist Daniel Kessler wrote, "We spent a good deal of time this past year digging through our archives and asking others to dig through theirs in the hopes of uncovering some forgotten material... We wanted to do something special for the best fans in the world. We hope you enjoy it."
Pre-order a copy from Matador and you'll receive a replica of the first-ever piece of Interpol merch: a button with the band's original logo.
