Oneohtrix Point Never Offshoot Ford & Lopatin Announce Channel Pressure LP
By Gregory AdamsLast month, nouveau electro purveyors Ford & Lopatin (formerly known as Games) announced that they were prepping the follow-up to their 2010 EP That We Can Play. Now, more details and a firm release date have popped up for the album, which will be issued on the duo's new imprint Software, a division of Brooklyn indie label Mexican Summer.

The Oneohtrix Point Never offshoot just announced on their Twitter that their new album will be called Channel Pressure and that it will be released on June 7. There's still no word on that tracklisting or cover, but we also know that Prefuse 73 is mixing the album.

On top of that info, Ford & Lopatin have put together a teaser clip of the album, which mashes a bunch of new tunes together. The clip is prefaced with the information that in the future, a super computer will run the music industry and that robots run rampant in the streets. Following a massive beating dished out from a robot gang, a boy named Joey vows to never leave his room again. The vid then shows a young dude crashed out in bed with his antique stereo system cranked high. Not surprisingly, the soundtrack to his life is scored by Ford & Lopatin's retro, sci-fi blend of chilly keys, sultry vocals and other such nods to '80s electro R&B. Check it out below.
