Falling in Reverse Embrace Hip-Hop and EDM for 'Fashionably Late,' Share New Video
By Gregory AdamsFalling in Reverse's 2011 set The Drug in Me Is You flirted with "sleazy, rock-inspired guitar solos" and metalcore breakdowns, but the band have apparently added hip-hop and EDM flourishes to their next record, Fashionably Late. Epitaph lets the album loose June 18.

A press release for the set notes that an '80s-era Sunset Strip vibe still permeates the band's latest batch of tunes, but vocalist/songwriter Ronnie Radke has jazzed up the arrangements by adding touches of electronic music and rap rhymes to his usual repertoire.

"My dad raised me on metal, but my first serious love was hip-hop," Radke said in a statement. "When I heard Dr. Dre's The Chronic, that's when I fell in love. I didn't know what the hell they were talking about, the beats were intertwined, and it came inside of me and took me over. When we added hip-hop elements I was thinking, 'Should I do this? This sounds crazy! Are people going to like this?' Now I've never been so proud of something. The final product, Fashionably Late, is the best work I've ever done."

You can check out the band's latest stab at genre-mashing in the video for first single "Alone," which has Radke admitting he's "a white boy on the beat wearing Gucci sneaks" and laying into the haters atop an amalgam of club-ready synth swerves and thugged-up six-string judding.

"It's everything I've ever wanted to say to all these Twitter followers that talk shit," Radke explained of the hybrid-heavy cut. "I wanted to let everyone that dedicates their lives to just one genre of music know why they are so unhappy."

Falling in Reverse also have a number of U.S. dates lined up from May to July, including stops on the Vans Warped Tour, which you can see here.
