By Brock ThiessenChristmas may be just around the corner, but we're back with one more news roundup before the holidays officially get into full swing. So if you're looking to get back on top of things, look no further.

First off, if you have been paying attention to Exclaim.ca the last month, you've noticed that we've had a ton of year-end coverage, offering up our picks of the best albums in pop and rock, electronic, soul, R&B and world, folk and country, metal, hip-hop, and experimental and avant-garde. Plus, we've listed off our most disappointing albums of 2012, the most unappreciated, the top reissues, best EPs, and the the year in beef. There is a whole ton more, and you can check out all our lists here, as well as get some analysis into the year in music over here.

But of course, there was also a lot of music news this week as well. On the Canadian front, Hollerado finally set a firm release date for their anticipated White Paint, Cancer Bats announced a deluxe reissue of their Dead Set on Living and Baptists revealed their debut album for Southern Lord.

In other news, Alabama Shakes singer Brittany Howard was robbed at gunpoint, members of Sunn O))) and Boris joined forces for a new project, Mad Season gave us an official due date for their Above reissue, Kurt Vile announced a new record via a billboard, and Scissor Sisters' Jake Shears revealed that he's on the new Queens of the Stone Age album.
