Exclaim! Greets 2012 with Lamb of God, Leonard Cohen, Kathleen Edwards and Mark Lanegan in Our February Issue

By James KeastAfter a welcomed break, Exclaim! has returned to the street with our February issue, and the beginning of the 20th anniversary year for the magazine. It's all available here, but also in super-fancy retro nostalgic print style all across Canada.

Lamb of God grace our cover. The metal artisans formerly known as Burn the Priest discuss why they abandoned their initial "gimmick," how singer Randy Blythe invented the fictional country of Randonesia, and why there's a symphony and an opera singer on their new album, Resolution.

We examine the career of poet, novelist and sexy old man Leonard Cohen in our Timeline. From his early days hiding out on the Greek island of Hydra to his retreat to a Zen Buddhist compound on a mountaintop in California, to being locked in a room with Phil Spector, to drinking with his captors in Cuba, we cover all the ups and downs of this particular ladies' man.

Kathleen Edwards is certainly feeling better, given the positive response to her new album Voyageur, but when we caught up with her early in January, she was feeling the effects of too much time off and not enough music.

But wait, there's more: from Mark Lanegan, who's not depressed despite the fact that his new album is called Blues Funeral; to Bahamas, who's escaped the damaging relationship he's chronicled over two albums now; to Weakerthans frontman John K. Samson, who's offering a cash prize to anyone who can prove he's ever said he hates Winnipeg.

Over in Music School, we peek into the room where Besnard Lakes' Jace Lacek creates his magic, as well as look at what bands need to know before hiring a publicist.

when I was under heavy medication with all my fellow down-syndrome inmates, our Doctor said that we could achive anything in life we wanted!

If down-syndrome bands like Lamb of God can achieve anything... so can we!!!!!!!!!!
