The Elwins, Abstract Random, Nephelium Nominated for Toronto Independent Music Awards
By Alex HudsonThe Toronto Independent Music Awards are back to once again honour the finest up-and-coming Ontario indie musicians. The 2012 edition of the event will take place on October 6 at Toronto's Phoenix Concert Theatre.

The awards show will feature 21 prizes that span a wide range of genres, in addition to categories for American and out-of-province artists. Among the nominees are the Elwins, Abstract Random, Nephelium and Philly Moves, along with a host of other talented Ontario acts.

These nominees and winners are chosen by a jury that includes Bif Naked, Lucas Silveira of the Cliks and others. See the full list of award categories and nominees right here.

The ceremony will feature performances from Toronto rapper/producer Rich Kidd, Toronto rock act Dilly Dally and more. TIckets for the event are $15 with all proceeds going towards MusiCounts, a charitable organization that promotes music education.

All Ontario independent Canadian bands are eligible. TIMA also has a "Best Out-Of-Province" category. Toronto is just where they host the show.
