The Dillinger Escape Plan Sign to Sumerian Records for New LP
By Gregory AdamsLong-running tech-metal maniacs the Dillinger Escape Plan aren't letting the recent departure of guitarist Jeff Tuttle slow them down, as it's been announced that they're currently recording a follow-up to 2010's Option Paralysis.

The group are laying down the record in the studio with producer Steve Evetts (Every Time I Die, Suicide Silence, Sepultura) and plan to have it out by next spring. A new teaser clip spiked with some chaotic live footage reveals that the as-yet-untitled album will be the first the band deliver for their new home Sumerian Records, in conjunction with their own Party Smashers Inc. imprint. Option Paralysis was the band's only LP issued through now ex-label Seasons of Mist.

Prior to the band hitting the studio, guitarist Ben Weinman described their new material as "very punk-, very hardcore-influenced," which he claims was due in part to revisiting his record collection.

"Billy [Rymer, drums] and I have just been listening to old hardcore records blasting through my house and then going down to the dungeon and just bashing," Weinman said at the time. "Greg [Puciato, vocals] also seems to be in a very dark place lyrically. I think it's going to be pretty creepy. If these songs don't put some holes in the wall, I don't know what will."
