By Alex HudsonWhile DD/MM/YYYY broke up back in the fall, it's been hard to miss the Toronto art punk outfit too much, since four of the five members immediately went on to form a new project called Absolutely Free. Now, that band have announced a new run of shows.
Following an appearance this Saturday (March 24) at Canadian Music Fest in Toronto, Absolutely Free will lie low until April, when they'll play a pair of Ontario shows in London and Toronto (the latter gig is with Japanther). Then, in May, they'll return to London and also play in St. Catherines and Hamilton.
A press release notes that, compared to DD/MM/YYYY, "Absolutely Free create a more hypnotic music that integrates African polyrhythm, psychedelia, Ethiopian jazz."
They are currently working on their debut album, and we can expect some clips from the studio to be unveiled within the next few weeks. For now, watch a live clip at the bottom of the page.
