Damon Albarn Denies End of Blur and Gorillaz
By Sarah MurphyLead contender for Britain's busiest musician, Damon Albarn has clarified the recent statements he made about putting an end to both Blur and Gorillaz.

As previously reported, Albarn shot down the idea of putting out a new Blur record, then went on to suggest that Blur's concert at the London Olympics would probably be their last. He continued to say that Gorillaz was probably over as well due to the communication breakdown between himself and the animated band's co-creator Jamie Hewlett.

Well, things aren't looking so pessimistic after an interview Albarn gave to UK paper Metro. When asked if Blur and Gorillaz were both done for good, Albarn explained that his comments had been taken out of context and shortened from a much longer conversation.

Speaking about a future for Blur after their August 12 show at Hyde Park, he offered, "I don't know how we'll feel when we play Hyde Park... If you don't see something as a career but as an important part of your life, you don't know how you're going to feel about it. We want to put on a great performance but nothing's been said between us about the beginning or the end."

He's not ruling any opportunities quite yet, though he's thinking about the whole thing rather pragmatically and doesn't "want to cock it all up by staying around too long and making a fool of myself. At 44, there's a little trepidation about jumping around on stage but I love it."

So as Blur fans everywhere breathe a sigh of relief, what about Gorillaz? Albarn says, "When Jamie and I have worked out our differences, I'm sure we'll make another record."

As we wait to see what becomes of Blur and Gorillaz, there's still plenty of Albarn to go around. His collaborative project Rocket Juice and the Moon recently released their self-titled debut album, while his solo record Dr. Dee will be hitting shelves on May 8.
