Spin reports that Stetson is currently finishing off the album and is eying a spring release date through Constellation. This final instalment in the New History Warfare trilogy is being produced by ambient composer Ben Frost. Four of the tracks feature vocal contributions from Bon Iver main man Justin Vernon, with whom Stetson has toured extensively.
There are 11 tracks in all, with the average song length hovering at around 10 minutes. The music reportedly builds off of Vol. 2's theme of isolation, and Stetson explained, "The storyline and the world that I'm trying to inhabit and create with this third one is much bigger. Vol. 2 is very urgent and there's a lot of intimacy about how everything is. This one retains that and, at times, gets even closer. But it also opens up."
The sound is apparently big and roomy, and Stetson's playing as bold and technically challenging as ever. Stay tuned for album details as they emerge.
