Cannibal Ox Reunite, Plan New Album
By Gregory AdamsIt's been 11 and a half years since Cannibal Ox delivered their debut LP, The Cold Vein, but a recently announced reunion has the Harlem rap duo insisting a new album is on the way, which they hope to drop in 2013.

Following news that Vast Aire and Vordul Mega will be heading to Brooklyn December 9 to for a show at the Knitting Factory, Aire revealed that the duo's sophomore album is already underway. He also noted that this isn't a comeback LP, since the group didn't actually split.

"We never broke up, but the timing is now right for a new Cannibal Ox LP. Iron Galaxy Records is about to take over," he told Pigeons and Planes [via FACT

Specifics on the ETA, tracklist and album title have yet to surface. Despite The Cold Vein LP dropping in 2001, the troupe did manage to issue a live set in 2005 called Return of the Ox: Live at CMJ, which noted that the sophomore set was pegged for a 2006 release.

While there's no word on if the studio sessions have brought in some guest players, it may be safe to say that Cold Vein producer El-P won't be onboard adding layers of twisty synths and beats to the proceedings. Last year, after being asked on his Facebook profile whether he'd re-team with Vast Aire and Vordul Mega, he responded, "there wont ever be a can ox album produced by me again and thats a fact."
