Two months touring Europe is really expensive (rental vans, plane tickets, gas, hotel rooms, food etc). The Burning Hell are touring as a five piece, and most shows are around 5 euros. The 1500 Euros remaining is a result of serious budgeting after paying thousands of dollars in tour costs (somewhere between 5,000 and 10,000 Euros). Most Canadian bands are lucky to break even touring Europe.
Posted by jdmccallen On 2011-07-12 16:26:51@ Benny - much agreed, europe is ridiculously expensive and this sucks the big one for them. as a friend of ferrio's though, i have to agree with the 'rookie mistake' of having left their cash in the van overnight....don't get me wrong, i'm super bummed out for them and have made a donation (albeit, a small one), but leaving all their cash unattended? anyhow, here's hoping they make it back to canada to finish their tour.

Posted by mathiaskom On 2011-07-16 16:13:07Hey everyone, I feel like I should weigh in here...1) yes, it was stupid of us to leave it in the van, but to our credit it was a parking lot with a locked gate AND a guard. 2) 1500 euros was the amount we lost, and it was money that was going to cover the remaining tour expenses, but happily we did actually make money at various points in the tour. Europe is expensive to tour around, true, but we have the best booking agent ever and he did a great job as usual, so we came out on top in the end and 3) it was a sour end to what was otherwise the best tour i've ever been on in my life, and the break-in had nothing to do with Poland per se - this sort of thing happens to musicians all over the place, including frequently in Canada. And once again, thank you to everyone across Europe and Canada that pitched in to help us cover our loss - you are all collectively the best ever!
