By Alex HudsonHere's a beef we definitely didn't see coming: Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney has managed to incur the wrath of Canadian teen heartthrob Justin Bieber.
Following the Grammy Awards ceremony on Sunday (February 10), Carney was asked by a TMZ reporter what he thought of Bieber receiving no nominations. "He's rich, right?" the drummer responded, before adding, "Grammys are for music, not for money, and he's making a lot of money. I don't know. He should be happy, I guess."
Evidently this didn't sit too well with the Biebs, since today (February 12) he tweeted, "the black keys drummer should be slapped around haha."
As of press time, this message has been retweeted over 30,000 times. Still, this can't quite make up for the fact that the Black Keys won three Grammys (not including frontman Dan Auerbach's Producer of the Year nod) while Bieber failed to get nominated.
Carney has been known to be outspoken before, as he previously made headlines by slamming Spotify/Napster mogul Sean Parker, among others.
Fuck all of you trashing Carney. The music he makes is real, and isn't generic shit like bieber's. Bieber does what all his producers tell him to do, he's just a little puppet that sings crappy music. Sure the kid can sing, and i can't say i hate him, because i've never met him, but his music sucks and doesn't amount to any of the soulful music the black keys put, I've met pat and dan, they're really cool, and they know their shit.
Knowing your shit and being a shit are two very different things Mike.....I love the Black Keys but they aren't very humble and do nothing to ensure themselves to the public....they have kind of taken over from John Mayer in the race for PR assholes of the year....you'd think that making recycled blues music and charging $80 a pop while selling out stadiums and selling your tunes to any corporation who asks would tone them down a little....sad when people stick up for Bieber....who is beyond terrible....
Whatever man. This dude seems like a regular guy who is in the middle of a media frenzy due his band becoming popular. Im sure he was the same way before they made it but now EVERYONE IS LISTENING. Why censor either of them? Let feuds happen and pay attention if you want to, listen to whomever you like and speak your mind.
Black Keys had something as a stripped down raw sounding 2-piece but then they started doing trendy collaboration songs and changed direction to appeal to the masses. Of course that the only reason they one a Grammy. Was it a wrong choice? What do you do for a living? Do you expect to make money at it? I personally prefer the 2-piece raw sound but the new stuff is at least decent and in my opinion (we are all entitled) it is better than Biebers music.

TMZ stirs shit up. Seriously, if you were asked to answer the same question honestly, how would you respond? I'd follow Carney's stance and make the same observation. Let Bieber make his fortune and we'll overlook the fact that, while talented in his own right, Bieber's professional career has been an Auto Tuned romp through the shallow deluge of overly extravagant modern life.
