By Alex HudsonAs the perpetrator of the middle finger seen around the world, M.I.A. has incited her share of controversy lately. It doesn't come as too much of a surprise, then, that the singer has sparked a feud with CNN anchor Anderson Cooper.
She wrote, "@AndersonCooper called me a terrorist for speaking out, and expressed support for the SLgov when this was happening."
When Cooper expressed confusion, M.I.A. fired back "YOU CALLED ME A LADY TAMIL TIGER when i talked about tamil civilians dying."
It quickly turned out that M.I.A. was blowing things out of proportion, when she explained that Cooper's 360° blog had simply linked to an article from The Charleston Mercy and later published M.I.A.'s rebuttal. We'd argue that this is a little different from calling the singer a terrorist.
Cooper eventually smoothed things over, but not before getting in a couple digs of his own.
He tweeted, "you are mistaken. I never called you a terrorist. I don't even know who you are other than the lady who sang at superbowl."
He continued, "you've gone from saying 'I wrote,' 'I called you,' to saying my cnn show blog had a link to an article. Big difference."
He pointed out that M.I.A. had been given a chance to respond and that seemed to quell the singer.
Well, if you're keeping score on this beef, we're going to say it's one for Anderson Cooper, zero for M.I.A.
M.I.A is a joke. Her father was a Tamil terrorist and there's no other way to describe someone who supports or inflicts violence upon innocents as justification for furthering a "cause" than a terrorist. Plus, her music is shite.
