Apparatjik Set to Drop New Album, Get Pharrell to Guest

By Alex HudsonIn their career so far, Apparatjik are more famous by association than for their own accomplishments, as the group include Coldplay's Guy Berryman, Mew's Jonas Bjerre, A-ha's Magne Furuholmen and producer Martin Terefe (Mary J. Blige, Ron Sexsmith). Soon, the group will seek to change that when they release their second album, Square Peg in a Round Hole on February 21 via Meta Merge Un.

Okay, so the band will most likely never be quite as successful as the members' main gigs, but they are bound to gain some more attention thanks to the new track "Do It Myself," a slinky cut co-written with famed N.E.R.D. producer Pharrell Williams.

Berryman said this about the team-up [via DIY]: "Apparatjik works in cells around the world as an open platform for collaborations. After working with Pharrell in Miami, Martin came home with a demo of a fantastic song titled 'Do it Myself,' which they had written together, and we just said, hey, lets just add some bits and use this as an Apparatjik song! I love the fact that a musical collective can be this unpredictable."

Curiously, different drafts of the album have already been released through the band's own iPad app, with fans offering input in creating the final version. Read some updates over at Facebook (where you can also get a draft of the album in exchange for a "like").
