Due to previous comments from Dallas Green about the band delivering a final farewell tour, speculation about the countdown pointed towards a tour announcement -- which is exactly what they've delivered this morning (August 9).
The band will embark on a worldwide tour, dubbed the "10th Anniversary Farewell Tour," kicking off in London, UK, then hitting up Brazil and Australia, before returning to home soil for a handful of Canadian dates in Edmonton, Calgary, Montreal and Toronto.
Originally hailing from, St. Catharines, ON, Alexisonfire announced that they would be disbanding almost exactly one year ago. Now it seems that their second consecutive night headlining Toronto's Sound Academy on December 27 will be their last show.
"I think that there was a lot of doom and gloom surrounding the last Alexisonfire tour," the band's George Pettit said in a statement. "Now that the dust has settled, and everyone has gone down their separate paths, I think it's important to get proper closure on 10 years and share it with the our fans. After this we can leave Alexis in our rear view and remember it fondly, not as something we had to escape."
On top of the farewell tour, Alexisonfire will deliver a vinyl box set that will package up vinyl LPs of all their studio albums and 7-inches, including, but not limited to, Math Sheet Demos, Crisis b-sides, Insulation Tapes and BBC Sessions. It will also come with a photo book and "other exclusive items," though so far no release date has been set.

Seems like they just want to get that tour out of the way as quickly as possible. 2 prarie cities, 2 east cities. What a load of shit. I hoped their last shot would be in St. Catherines, not that I live in the East, but it only seems fair.
everybody is bummed about AOF not coming to their city/town but instead of whining you should be booking your flight, train, or bus ride to the nearest show! that's what I did, I love Alexis too much to just not go see them one last time.
