Sid Vicious Swastika Shirt on Sale for Over $15,000
By Alex HudsonIn 1978, Sex Pistols bassist Sid Vicious stirred up some major controversy by wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with a swastika. The garment, which was designed by manager Malcolm McLaren, epitomized the Sex Pistols' rebel-without-a-cause aesthetic, which celebrated controversy for controversy's sake. And the infamous shirt is raising eyebrows yet again now that it is on sale at memorabilia dealer Helen Hall's website.

According to the product description, the shirt "has impeccable provenance and is perhaps one of the most memorable worn by Sid Vicious." Although Hall doesn't list a price, the Telegraph writes that the piece has been valued at £10,000 ($15,308 Canadian).

Vicious died of a heroin overdose in 1979, just a year after wearing the shirt. He was 21. Although he wore a swastika shirt, his girlfriend Nancy Spungeon was Jewish.

Hall's website also has information about other rock'n'roll artifacts, including John Lennon's handwritten lyrics to "A Day in the Life" and a list of the top five pieces of Kurt Cobain memorabilia.

If you've got money to blow on memorabilia, send an email over to helen@helen-hall.com to make an enquiry.
