The National's Dessner Brothers to Transform The Long Count Project into Full-Length Album
By Ian GormelyMan, those dudes in the National are busy cats. As we recently told you, on top of having just released their latest disc High Violet, guitarists Bryce and Aaron Dessner have been helping out Sufjan Stevens on his new record and the band will be hitting the road for the next few months. However, they're not going to let that stop them from getting back into the studio.

In a recent Exclaim! interview, Bryce Dessner revealed that he, brother Aaron and National singer Matt Berninger are planning to release an album from their Long Count project.

"We're planning on recording a record of that at the end of June" Bryce said. "It's like a 70-minute show that's much more experimental sounding."

The Long Count, as some of you may remember, was a mixed-media performance commissioned by the Brooklyn Academy of Music and performed over three nights last October. It paired visuals from artist Matthew Ritchie with music composed by the Dessner brothers. Berninger, the Breeders' Kim and Kelly Deal and My Brightest Diamond's Shara Worden helped out on vocals.

No dates have been set for the The Long Count album's release but Bryce did mention, "There will be a little bit of touring for that planned."

The National are currently on tour across North America, and you can view all their dates here. Their tour break at the end of June is presumably when the Dessners are planning on heading into the studio.
