Kelly Clarkson Plagiarizes Arcade Fire?
By Josiah HughesWe've always got the sense that Kelly Clarkson was a bit of an indie rock fan. Not only did she recruit Mike Watt to play bass in 2006, but her songs sound so good when Ted Leo covers them. She may have crossed the line by wearing her influences a little too proudly, however, as her new single sounds eerily similar to the Arcade Fire.

As [via TwentyFourBit] points out, the track is called "Naked Eye," and is a leaked single from Clarkson's forthcoming new album. Particularly in the first verse, the melody sounds like a direct rip-off of the Arcade Fire's "Rebellion (Lies)."

Both tracks are available for your discerning ears below. Whether or not Clarkson directly lifted the track from the Montreal indie powerhouse, well, we're pretty sure there isn't enough of a case here to bring her down. If anything, Arcade Fire can take their revenge by putting "My Life Would Suck Without You" on their upcoming new album.

UPDATE: The YouTube clip of the Clarkson track has now been removed, but Idolator still has it.
