By Josiah HughesTruly in a category all his own, famed parodist "Weird Al" Yankovic has had a whirlwind career since releasing his self-titled debut in 1983, and he still remains relevant today. His 13th studio album, Alpocalypse, is set to hit stores later this month, but we've arranged a stream of the whole thing right here in Click Hear.
Alpocalypse is Weird Al's first studio album since 2006's Straight Outta Lynwood and sees the artist putting his goofy take on hits from T.I., Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, B.o.B and, of course, Lady Gaga, along with Al's usual batch of well-written original tracks and another one of his famed polkas.
Lady Gaga parody "Perform This Way," which makes light of the pop singer's "Born This Way," almost prevented the album from being made in a flurry of web-based misunderstandings. Since Weird Al has always sought the permission of the artists he pokes fun at, he asked Lady Gaga's management for clearance on the song. They denied it without ever showing Gaga, and an internet shitstorm occurred.
Soon after, Lady Gaga got in touch with Weird Al, saying she had never heard the song when it was denied permission, and having heard it, she would love for it to be on the album. With that in mind, Al had his lead single ready to go and Alpocalypse was confirmed.
Speaking with Exclaim!, Weird Al explained that despite the epic title, he wasn't actually intending to capitalize on all the recent rapture talk. "I wasn't consciously trying to tap into people's fears," he explains. "It's actually an idea I had in my notebook for several years and I just thought it was a funny album title and I had that visual of me being one of the four horsemen, and I just thought it'd be funny."
With that in mind, he does want to milk his fanbase for some sales before the end of the world actually does happen. "I don't know if the actual alpocalypse is coming but I'm pretty sure we're closer to it now than we've ever been," he jokes. "I figured that I might as well do my apocalypse-themed album before the actual apocalypse because I really don't think people are gonna be buying CDs at the end of the world. Getting in a few sales under the wire, y'know?"
Alpocalypse will be released on June 21 via Jive Records, but the full album can be streamed below.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 11:12:07Well the last two songs are good. The rest is TOTAL GARBAGE!! Worst Weird Al album yet. I'm disappointed
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 12:51:59If you think this album is garbage then you have no reason to call yourself an Al fan. I think this is a good album.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 13:29:19Garbage? I think this is the best album since Running with Scissors. Skipper Dan is genius, and the polka medley is already one of my favorites. The only track I'm not crazy about is Craigslist, but I think even it will grow on me after awhile.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 13:32:39Something I will say that is slightly disappointing is that 5 of the tracks are already released tracks from Internet Leaks. Would have been nice to have a complete new album....not one where almost half of the tracks were released a year or 2 ago. Anxious to see his Perform This Way video on the 21st.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 15:10:08I think its a work of genius. Best yet
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 15:15:26Is it true that this album may not feel as great as we've come to expect from Al? Maybe, but I think that's not Al's fault. Seriously, Al has always had his finger on the pulse of popular music. His early albums were brilliant because every song they parodied were songs we'd all heard, and they were great songs. Here, I think some of the songs don't resonate with me simply because the source material doesn't resonate with me.
I'm loving the polka mix, as usual, Whatever you Like is great, and Ringtone is a pretty danged awesome Queen throwback. If the rest of the songs and artists he parodied were as catchy and recognizable as those, I'm sure this'd be hailed as another top-notch album. But the era of the few songs that everyone knows and loves is over. It's hard out there for a parody artist.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 15:34:10Brilliant. Last song is particularly fab. And to the person complaining about the Internet Leaks songs being on here, that was the plan from day one. You have the option of completing the album on itunes if you already bought Internet Leaks.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 17:47:30Its good i loved it but there were no Justin Bieber Parodies!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 17:52:07To the first Nameless Poseur, You may not care much for the new album, but trust me, this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/w... is Even Worse.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 17:56:27awful.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 18:51:07it is what it is
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 18:51:22Debut album in 1983 not 1988 Justin Bieber parody in part of polka mix Craiglist works better if you see the video too
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 18:51:22it is what it is
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 18:52:32Since the first Time I listened to Weird Al I've been hooked! Maybe even a tad obsessed-but thats not the point! as a fellow comedian and artist, we always have our hits and misses- And the thing is, someone will get the joke! Though I may not be a fan of one song, many others out there wil love that particular track, So, i say-Weird Al is Timeless!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 18:53:23love this album so glad Al is back!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 18:53:31Wow. Fact check much? He was already on album #5 by 1988.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 18:54:54Weird Al just gets BETTER AND BETTER with each new album. I dont think it matters if you know the source songs or not, just enjoy the brilliance of his lyric writing and his musicality and the songwriting genius you need to do this
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 19:03:22Thanks Al! this will hold me till I can get the CD. and the concert at the Pacific Amphitheatre.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 19:11:05Love all the tracks on here, including the Internet Leaks 5. True, I don't always know all the originals to his parodies, but that's part of the fun I've had with Al: when he parodies, I look up the original to see how good it was. I always like his stuff, parody or original!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 19:12:05"Self-titled debut in 1988..."?!?!! Heh.
Thank you for streaming this. I can't wait until the 21st to get my real copy!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 19:12:48Party in the CIA is pure genius! As always, Al delivers!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 19:13:28Loooooove it! the amount of happiness this music will bring people over the years...
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 19:15:36I may be from another "planet" or outside of my mind but Al is Al and this is as good as I hoped it would be. I can see him sing these in my mind, I and my sons just love Al and I have since the early 80's!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 19:17:497/10
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 19:19:18I think the previous poster nailed it on the head when they pointed out that the source material is just not as good to work with these days. With Bieber, Kesha, and the Disney invasion, what's left to mock that's popular?
Al, you should verge more into rock and alt rock. Broaden the pallet maybe?
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 19:19:21The whole thing is genius :)
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 19:21:18I LOVED polka face
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 19:22:04Not a bad album, just feels kind of half-assed that the Internet Leaks EP was recycled for this. Most Al fans probably paid for the internet leaks as they were released and therefore might have an incentive not to buy this album.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 19:22:32Love this album!! Yay Al! I have been a fan since your first album and never have stopped. Congrats to Al, Steve, Jiim, Jon, Ruben! This is a wonderful album!!!! Best yet (besides my favorite Polka Party)
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 19:24:45Mint!!!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 19:27:02Mint, thanks for streaming.
Posted by Josiah On 2011-06-14 19:27:21That incorrect date was just a typo, thanks for the correction! Now, back to the Alpocalypse.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 19:42:39This is a great album. Way to go Weird Al.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 19:45:49Not exactly Al's best, but still a solid record. Can't wait for the music videos, loved Al since grade school! :D
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 19:50:13My initial reaction when I saw the tracklist was "I've heard half of these songs! The rest sound average....disappointed."
I'm streaming the album now and I've been reminded of something very important. Even if you don't know/like the song being parodied, Al's versions are musically and lyrically GOOD. Often better than the originals. Even if they're not funny (and after enough listens they stop being LOL funny), they stand up as great songs.
I don't even know who CNR and Skipper Dan are, but I love the songs anyway.
Thank you for streaming the album (and thanks higher powers for allowing it). I wasn't going to buy it, now I will.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 19:51:38I just Farted
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 19:55:08Anyone else find the polka song a little lacking in layers? It usually has a bunch of different sounds going at once, this one seems a bit bare.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 19:58:22WOW! This was a GREAT album all the way around! Literally every song I laughed at and every single one of them impressed me with the lyrics, and impressed me with the music. The style parodies, the direct parodies, they were brilliant and some of these really felt like genuis lyric writing. The first commenter here dissing this album is a MORON. He didn't even listen to it, i'm certain. I ESPECIALLY loved Craigslist. What an excellent and nearly perfect love-letter to The Doors! Very very well done! The whole album is a cheer 10 out of 10! Al's best album yet! If you don't like this album then you don't know Al, you have no taste or you don't get it, man. That first commenter was either insane or a troll. But i'm certain he was just a troll. If he heard a single one of these songs, then he would have loved it. Great album. Really impressed.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 19:59:56Weird Al does it again and causes me to die laughing many times over
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 20:02:56P.S: I wrote the above post, but I always wanted to mention... yes, some of these songs were already from Internet Leaks, and I can understand a little bit of criticism of simply re-using those tracks for the album, but even though they WERE previously released, they're all still great. CNR especially. I don't care if that song is old. I could still listen to it a million times, anyway. :P Re-used tracks or not, they still work almost perfectly with the rest of the great album. Maybe someone might not have to incentive to buy the album, but the songs you havn't heard is worth buying it for, and the songs you have heard are great, regardless.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 20:03:02Beauty, Awesome Al
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 20:06:21It was stated by Al from the very beginning of Internet Leaks that all of those songs were going to be on the next full-length, so Al fans shouldn't be surprised by that. They knew.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 20:15:17Hehe Al has a gift of cheering me up whenever i need it, love the new album. Will pick it up on release for sure.
To quote the Simpsons "Those who have grown tired of Al, have grown tired of life"
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 20:29:26Polkaface is an instant Weird Al Classic.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 20:44:48Polka Face was absolutely legendary.
Then I heard the end. Now it's beyond legendary.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 20:51:37Thanks Al! It's You!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 20:58:04Fun album, although it's not his best.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 21:18:54Is this stream not avalable for the iPhone?
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 21:31:51Even Weird Al sings better than Taylor Swift!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 21:52:31The sad part is that mainstream songs have gotten so stupid, that these BRILLIANT parodies are rather pointless. :)
Now that I'm maturing adult, at 43, I do NOT watch MTV/Much Music anymore, so I'm SOOO not up on what is 'hip'.
This was SO AL, and as such well done.... sadly, again with sadness, AL may actually be TO hip/mature to parody CRAP to a stupid audiance.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 22:15:21That album was fricking fantastic!!!!! I love every song! Al is king!!!!!!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 22:32:39I think the biggest problem with this album is that the artists Al parodies this time are all crap, so the songs are not as good as previous albums. I do like this album, but not as much as Lynwood.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 22:43:00awesome I can get this in the U.S
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 23:03:38Al fan since I was 4 years old, am now 25, and once again he does NOT disappoint. Absolutely hilarious...just woke up my son laughing so hard at "party at the cia". Brilliant, Al! You've done it once again!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 23:59:06Party in the CIA is the best thing I've heard in years!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-15 00:21:31it sucks... the older i get the less i recognize a parody
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-15 00:48:08I liked ''Party in the CIA" although I hated the original song ^_^ This album is pretty nice, I was waiting for him to turn some of the stupid popular songs into real works of art.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-15 01:36:57It's cuz music nowadays is LAME! Hard to parody something that already sucks! Polka was awesome!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-15 01:53:22Ever since Dr. Demento introduced me to Weird Al, knowing his father from the Welk show I have been impressed with his parodies. There are others now doing parodies and some are quite good but they are not Weird Al the original. Look how many years he has been doing this? Can I say this... he's old!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-15 02:06:37And that's why I love Al, waiting til the cd arrives? Nope, here it is.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-15 02:27:47Thank you for blowing my mind with your awesomeness yet again mr. Yankovic
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-15 03:08:54pretty boring album... a few good songs but most of it has boring lyrics. Since Parodies just copy the music of another song, the lyrics are really the pinnacle of important, and the lyrics to some of these songs just weren't funny or interesting.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-15 04:32:21brilliant, Al has returned to the way he used to polka's love the new ones, but love the traditional early versions :)
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-15 04:59:01Always always always like his polkas.... he need to do more polkas!!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-15 05:04:14This ROCKS!!!!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-15 05:49:32Holy crap, this must be a record count of nameless poseurs....
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-15 05:50:41Super Fun! I love it.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-15 06:11:45Haha! I love Ringtone and TMZ. I've seen the CNR video, but I didn't know the video left out one verse until now.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-15 07:26:30On the first play-through of this I was convinced but now on the second listen I think it's ace. A great collection of Al tracks here, tbh I'd like anything if he sang it his voice just makes me laugh.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-15 08:14:39About half way thru...lovin' it! After seeing his behind-the-scenes video on "Straight Outta Lynwood", I was worried that he wasn't havin' any fun anymore...just based on how INTENSLY Al was working...feel better now, cuz this album sounds FUN!
Here's a tribute I did about Al on my podcast 'bout a year ago...perhaps time for an update...
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-15 08:16:59Nope! Just go to voiceofsteve.podomatic.co... and zip back thru my episodes...It's just called "Weird AL". Hope you enjoy!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-15 10:23:46It's an okay album. The original songs for the most part are not nearly as good as some of his brilliant past ones. A couple of the parodies are great, and the others, not so much. I guess that has to do with music overall these days being crap.
I wouldn't mind a retro album that parodies all the songs from the 80s and early 90s that he never got around to.
Posted by Cryptanicman On 2011-06-15 10:25:46The only reason anything Weird al's music isn't as epic as the old stuff, is because pop isn't as cool as it used to be, sure its an opinion, but if Al's music is suffering at all, thats why, He's one of the reasons I do music.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-15 10:35:29S(he) whos tired of this album is tired of life.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-15 10:36:21Good work al
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-15 11:36:03Cryptanicman has it 100% right - For those of us who are old guard Al fans (I was a fan back to My Bologna in 79 and his stuff was first being played on Dr Demento), it is the fact that pop music has gotten more formula, less creative, overall less quality, so since he works with current trends and the trends suck, it only stands to reason that the new stuff won't resonate with us as much as the older stuff did. In fact what Al is doing here is making the proverbial silk purses out of sow's ears...I listened to White n Nerdy hundreds of times before even hearing Ridin' once, and that's about all I heard it - I'll stick with Al. He's still the best at what he does, whether he's working with gold or crap. :-)
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-15 12:43:46I Don't know about blameless poseur, but From song one to 12 I think this has been his most creative since poodle hat. I just cant wait till the 21st so I can buy the CD.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-15 16:23:26I think I prefer the live version of Polka Face that was posted to YouTube last year. I don't care for TMZ but that just proves how perfectly Al can replicate any genre. For that same reason I find only a few of the songs are instant gems; I just don't care for soft, easy listen music that causes me to cease paying attention to the words and treat the singer like one big melodic vocal blur. I suppose I'm just going to have to see if the songs grow on me (a feat I wasn't able to accomplish with 'Off the Deep End' regardless of how much everyone else around me liked it).
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-15 17:09:08Grest
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-15 19:08:28Any1 dont like this album must hate todays music overall, like Al only change the lyrics not the music. If you expect Eat It 2011, then your dead wrong. Al does a gr8 job keeping up with todays music. And quiete frankly he sings better then most people he parodies. Without Weird al, music would suck. Especially in the 90s and today.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-15 19:41:16I resent being tarnished as a member of a "stupid audience" I am totally not up with modern pop songs and never have been. I can think of very few Weird Al parodies down the years where I already knew the song that was the source, but that's absolutely no block upon enjoying Al's lyrics for what they are or loving the talent and musicianship on display. The lyrics are sharp and clever, now maybe not lol songs about food, tv and farting such as appealed to the twelve year old demographic thirty years ago, but infinitely more mature and well crafted. Stop judging Al for no longer being the wacky clown everyone loved as a kid and start appreciating him for being what he has matured into, a sort of latter day Shel Silverstein or Tom Lehrer . The source music really isn't important,. All you need to know is that he took a frothy cheerleader party anthem and made a song about judicial murder, torture and cultural imperialism. Doesn't that seem funny to you? It surely does to me
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-15 21:44:28epic!!!!!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-15 23:13:28haha, sorry Al, in the song "If that isn't love" it's already outdated. Oprah is over now, haha. That being sad (Which it has) it's still my favorite album!!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-16 07:04:41I've only listened to snippets, want to wait til it arrives in the post! :) Please come back to Holland ;) xXx
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-16 07:51:35I love polka face

Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-16 12:27:29latter-day shel silverstein?...
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-16 14:42:15wow. Ringtone definately starts good. channeling queen. unfortunately breaks out of the recognizableness of queen 1/2 way through, but then brings it back. probably one of my favorites though.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-17 08:50:49I'm the webmaster of the only german fansite and I love the new songs (except "Craigslist" - that's not mine)! An absolutely GREAT CD, much better than "Straight Outta Lynwood" (for me his worst album) and I'm proud to be a fan of Al since the 80s.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-17 14:09:48I'm waiting for the "Party in the C.I.A." video. That will, I'm sure, be epic and a half.
Posted by moosy10 On 2011-06-17 14:22:26I seen my 6th Al concert in Effingham IL last week, front row center(thank you hunny) and wait for my next one when he comes back around
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-17 16:41:38the people who are saying "this isn't good because they don't recognize the songs" = your fault for being an old fogey haha.
classic weird al here.
and beiber is covered on the polka montage.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-17 19:44:18I love it! Been a Weird Al fan for over 23 years. Of course his other stuff is better just because it is classic but I LOVE this Polka. Britney Spears "Womanizer" WOW! Funny stuff!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-17 22:35:49This truly is one of "Weird Al's" best album's EVER!!!
My favorites: "Perform This Way" "CNR" "TMZ" "Polka Face" (my favorite medley yet) "Party in the CIA" and "Stop Forwarding That Crap to Me"
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-17 22:45:05Al said when he released 'Internet Leaks' that they were songs from an upcoming album (that's why they were leaks on the internet). It's true there isn't as much substance to the music/lyrics of modern day pop music as they are quite generic. But Al continues to nail it, working with what is presented. Quality work Al, awesome to see some of these performed live when you came to Melbourne. Looking forward to the release and videos.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-18 00:41:10i was afraid i wouldnt like this since i havent listend to commercial raidio since the mid 90's but you realy dont need to know the songs being lampooned to enjoiy
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-18 01:21:30Al has always been a mainstay in my life. He has always made me laugh and continues to do so. I have created three new fans of his in my children. We all love him and hope him the best. Thanks for all the goo times. This new CD does not disappoint.
Richard
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-18 02:22:26If That Isn't Love is my favorite song on this album. Craigslist is a great style parody of The Doors. bla, bla bla, if you like Al, you are gonna get this cd. If you don't you won't. it doesn't matter what i say!!!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-18 09:21:12If you dont like a few of the songs, just listen to them a few times and they will grow on you. AL is awsome.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-18 10:18:21I thought it was great
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-18 10:42:33Craigslist Best song Al has ever done!!!!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-18 11:52:18The sound quality is outstanding! Having said that... Wow. I've been collecting Al since I first heard him on Dr. Demento in the early 80's. The first and only concert I've ever been to is Weird Al. I've got to say this album blows! The will be the first Al album I don't buy. Sorry Al, most of songs on the album sound the same as other songs on this same album. Some sound like songs on other albums. I guess you're just not relevant anymore.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-18 13:19:18Track 11 was actually well done. I'm not sure I'll buy the whole album but I might download a few individual songs.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-18 14:36:08I think the people that don't like Craigslist have never listened to the Doors....trust me, he's spot on with that one.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-18 14:50:20My only complaint would be that half of the songs where spoiled due to internet leaks but other then that good stuff :D love you
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-18 15:12:02this is great!! me and my mum love weird al and this is an amazing cd, especially the pardoy of the devil miley cyrus' song Party in the Usa becomes Party in the CIA
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-18 15:12:38Instant Buyorama!!!!!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-18 15:42:41With all the crap out there , heres anothr , just Kidding ! I really dig Weird Al I love music & comedy, Weid Al is Great at both.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-18 16:18:59i only have one problem with the album, i could only suffer halfway thru trac 7.... cracked a rib laughing around T4, and it really hurts to laugh this hard.
Well done Al.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-18 16:44:27Amazing just amazing I love You Al!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-18 17:12:54Just one word.... GENIUS !!!!!!!!!!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-18 20:04:21Haha, another great ALbum. I'm totally gonna make Ringtone my ringtone. Party in the CIA and Skipper Dan are fantastic, and I really like the polka too. Another Weird Al album where I liked every track. Awesome :-)
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-18 20:17:11Craigslist was definitely the best song on the album. If you don't like it, then you are too young to be listening to Weird Al. Go buy a Justin Bieber CD
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-18 20:23:19That polka medley is titties
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-18 22:04:02I gotta new fav weird al song..."Party in the CIA" WOW!! How does he come up with this???!!!??!!!??!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-19 00:04:31Thanks much for sharing this! Another great album from the king of parodies!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-19 00:24:20I agree, this album sucking is not Al's fault. The songs being parodied suck ass. I don't give a crap about Lady Gaga
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-19 01:22:11I agree that it falls short. I like Al but the songs are terrible. Lady Gaga is just that -- gaga meant crap when I was growing up.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-19 01:37:54nice video but a little hard to Yack off to.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-19 02:27:08OK, I listed to it all again and the CIA song is pretty good but I did not even smile with the rest. Sad, since I own all the other discs prior. I really think it is the source songs and they are just crap so the parodies reflect that and are just not funny. Sorry.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-19 10:00:20Awsome Album! I still wish there had been more originals on this album that weren't already previously released on Internet Leaks, although I've alway been more partial to his parodies anyway. Is it just me or does anyone else detect a hint of Air Supply influence on "Stop Forwarding that Crap to Me"?
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-19 10:59:07i'm kinda disappointed in this album. half the album is the internet leaks when i heard new weird al I though 12 new tracks not 6.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-19 11:10:05One of the best IMO. Can't wait to see the videos!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-19 12:26:47Holy Sh..!
There has to come a collaboration with the lonely island guys....clash of the generations or so..
(love the stop-forwarding-that-crap-to-me-chorus!!)
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-19 13:04:48Great job Al! If this isn't love? is an instant classic. Once again the originals outrank the parodies, but a great listen.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-19 13:06:03Would love to have had 12 new songs instead of 7, but that being said it's a fantastic cd.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-19 14:25:18GREAT ALBUM!!!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-19 14:46:26I can't get enough of this CD! I will definately be buying it on Tuesday! I especially love Another Tattoo and I can't wait to see all of the music videos for these songs! I've been listening to this album here constantly for the past few days and I love it! I've seen the sneak peek videos for the Perform This Way music video and it is so brilliant (and mentally disturbing... in a good way!... i think...) ;) Weird Al is such a legend and I love him so much! Everything this man does is so clever and brilliant!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-19 15:30:20Album Rocks!!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-19 15:43:15just remember "the more carefully thought out your argument is the faster it will be ignored and forgotten."
just accept the fact that al has a great new album for us to listin to even if you want to nit pick
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-19 16:04:49Better than Hip Hop and way cooler than Rap. Al you ROCK...
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-19 19:48:03What happened to songs like "The Saga Begins, Amish Paradise and such? Man I love Al, but this does bite.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-19 19:51:01Al, you are truly a god among mortals
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-19 21:49:35TMZ is awesome haha
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-19 22:23:10I'm really impressed, I think this CD is a bit unique and there is some very funny material on there, can't wait to get the album!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-19 23:06:56If you think the parodies suck, don't blame Al, blame the artists that wrote the originals. You just can't find legends like Beat it or Another One Bites the Dust anymore.
But Gaga comes close, since people at least recognize it! Great job Al. The only thing was Skipper Dan should have been slower and unplugged since it really is a sad song.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-19 23:16:46"Ringtone" is probably better than anything Queen actually recorded after 1981 or so.
I imagine somewhere up there Freddie Mercury is laughing his ass off at this one.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-19 23:59:16To me whenever he's done a parody and just basically made fun of that artist/band....it doesn't work (See "Smells Like Nirvana"). That's what I think of when I hear "perform this way". It's okay, just not as good as the other ones. Yes, I agree that you don't necessarily have to know the original song to like the parody of it....but it does make it a little better. One thing I find interesting in myself is that over the years I've started enjoying his "original/sound-a-like" songs more than the parodies. But the Polkas are ALWAYS the ones I look forward to the most!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-20 00:38:31can't wait for this album! seriously weird al is so funny i can listen to his albums over and over!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-20 01:32:51I think I'm playing "If That Isn't Love" at my wedding.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-20 01:41:07I love Weird Al!! He is so funny!! "Whatever you like," is freaking hysterical!!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-20 02:57:38Love wierd Al since Dr. Dimeno. The man is a genius. Love that he has a new album. Thanks to this website for sharing his new songs.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-20 07:26:47not the best from AL i was hoping for rebecca black's friday song fucked with but have to say after al got married i think he lost his funny bone...
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-20 08:05:51Pretty good album overall. At least 3 tracks will be classics :D
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-20 11:53:13Awesome
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-20 12:50:20The only song I don't really like is Craigslist. Stop forwarding that crap to me is my fav (immediately sent it to all my aunts and two uncles, and I like to think Al made the song especially for someone who emails him crap) The song which will end up on my party playlist will be CNR, probably polka face too. If that isn't love will be the perfect karaoke song, And party in the CIA will be my guilty pleasure, because of the source.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-20 12:58:20Love it - nice work again Al
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-20 13:14:26Okay, I have been a Weird Al fan since his first album... so much so that "I'll be Mellow When I'm Dead" is to be played when I finally get laid to rest... much to the chagrin of my daughter. :-)
I love this album, but like many others I am really dissapointed in the recycled songs. I'd rather he had given us an extra month or two of waiting and granted us all-new tracks.
Having said that, "Party in the CIA" is ABSOLTELY BRILLIANT and "Stop Forwarding That Crap to Me" is a kick in the A. "Perform This Way" makes fun of the bimbo moron queen so I loved it too...
All in all APOCALYPSE is an excellent album and I wish I could find a place to buy it after midnight tonight - I'll fork over the cash as soon as I possibly can!
Hey Al.. DONT MAKE US WAIT SO LONG FOR A NEW ALBUM NEXT TIME... like how about next year?
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-20 14:23:19Party in the CIA is probably my initial favorite, really well done. This is a really good album, I feel like I would be a whole lot more excited about it if I hadn't been listening to Internet Leaks over and over for the last year. Either way, this is another classic Al album, love it.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-20 14:31:03Awwwww yeah
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-20 14:54:39Great job Al!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-20 15:36:35What I've heard sounds great. I think adding the tracks from "Internet Leaks" would have worked out better if the album had been released sooner than it was. But I still think it's a good album. Can't wait to get the vinyl!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-20 16:13:18I'm enjoying most of the songs on the album, but it's always been like that with Al -- not EVERY song is going to be fantastic for everyone, but the overall albums and his work are amazing. I do second the idea that a brand new album would've been nice, instead of half of it coming from "Internet Leaks". There's plenty of stuff out there nowadays to work with... c'mon Al. :P
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-20 16:51:10I WILL email "Stop Forwarding Me That Crap To Me" to everybody i know
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-20 17:31:30Not as good as "Straight out of Compton," but I really like it. (Buying the CD tomorrow.) This is way better than "Poodle hat."
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-20 17:52:23holy shit cnr has an extra verse in it, taking out the original.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-20 20:32:26polka face is the best song on here cause you will know the lyrics to the song the first time you will here it.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-20 21:18:54Heard some before, wanted them but I believe in paying for things I want. Weird Al - good to see you again!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-20 22:38:21CNR, Skipper Dan, Craigslist, Whatever You Like, and Ringtone were all released on YouTube a while back, so I've been listening to those for a while. The rest are pretty good.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-20 22:42:59This is a very good album! I enjoyed almost every song!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-21 02:48:23I found Another Tattoo really hilarious. I think people believe that every song Al is gonna make will be amazing like fat or eat it but there are some that will always be not as funny yet still hilarious.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-21 06:18:04Actually there is a justin beiber parody, in Polka Face, he starts singing Baby by JB, I couldn't stop laughing!!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-21 09:49:56Wow, the "Ringtone" song has definite Queen influences. It sounds like it was influenced by Queen's "Jazz" album. Seriously.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-21 09:54:52Which makes sense, given his first hit was a Queen parody 28 years ago. Still rocking today.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-21 10:26:28I think the album is pretty good and after I heard Polka Face i was already sold on it. xD
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-21 15:34:44I am halfway through and so far pretty good. He needs to do albums more frequently, some of the songs are kinda old...Skipper Dan was good, as well as Perform this way...haha now Craiglist is too funny. Ebay step aside...
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-21 15:50:09Gotta love it.... The real inside joke is how talented he really is! The "real" artists should breathe a sigh of relief that he chose parody cuz somebody might be out of a job!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-21 17:14:18I liked the whole thing. The stand outs for me were craigslist, party in the cia, tattoo, the second love song and stop forwarding.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-21 17:24:31ah, tmz was good too :)
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-21 17:32:22verry...intristing
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-21 17:42:03Yeah, Charles Nelson Reilly, he's our man, Can't heal the sick with the touch of his hand, Can't walk on water, can't make wine flow; Just another B actor on the late late show!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-21 19:23:57All is an mastermind All is doing the best he can the popular music this this days just sucks ass man
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-21 20:10:44straight out of loolywood was amazing. this is ok, but what can u do, he makes a ton of money and he is happy.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-21 20:25:53I'm with nameless poseur@15:15:26 -- the reason this album mostly doesn't work for me isn't that his skills are diminished at all; it's that I'm so out of touch with contemporary pop music that except for the (hilarious) Gaga rip I haven't got a clue which songs are originals and which are parodies.
Although I am definitely going to download "Stop Forwarding That Crap to Me" and send it to everybody who sends me stupid e-forwards from now on.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-21 21:00:48Some of the best originals Al has put out. Loved If That Isn't Love, and Skipper Dan is wonderful.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-22 01:31:46Yeah i have to sadly agree, the only songs worth while on this album were Perform this way and polka face, the source material is so crap that Even the greatness of Al can only do so much. What he should do is pick 2 or 3 of the TOP pop songs at the time to do then the rest of the parodies pick older more classic songs to parody that his core group would appreciate more. This way hes doing stuff for his old devoted fans and reaching out to the new generation at the same time. Also not rip us off by making half the album old songs everyone has heard since he released the singles over a year in advance of the album. He has done this before with Saga Begins on Running with Scissors and Ode to a Superhero on Poodle Hat
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-22 05:45:44Another tattoo is absolute GOLD!!!!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-22 10:06:48It was just removed... guess now I have to wait till the Postal Strike is finally over so that I can get the one I ordered to finish listening to it. Oh well
Posted by stackmaster On 2011-06-22 10:46:10I am rather offended on behalf of Al that people are calling his internet leaks a "rip off" or implying that Al is lazy for not doing a completely new album. Best I can figure is that people simply don't understand the amount of work that goes into an album and that he can't just churn one out in a year. He needs to find a song worth parodying (or come up with a good concept for an original song), write the lyrics/music and arrange the instrumentation with his band, record/mix/compress the song with his bandmates, and do that enough times to get an album. Not to mention, there are all the ideas he didn't run with because he decided they weren't good enough. It's a lot of work to make an album. If you want the album to be completely fresh when you buy it, exercise some self-control and don't listen to the internet leaks.
"Weird Al" Yankovic is blameless when it comes to work-ethic and devotion to his fans. I was vacationing in the-middle-of-nowhere Vernon, BC (even other Canadians don't know where that is), and I was shocked and delighted to see that Weird Al was playing there while I was visiting. Unfortunately for Al, the merchandise, for whatever reason, never made it to Vernon. So even before the concert started, Al knew that he had made all the money he was going to make in Vernon. No matter how much the audience loved the show, there were no t-shirts or CDs to be bought afterward.
Didn't matter. Al and his band put on a fantastic show and I could tell by his sweat-drenched face (and the matching faces of his band) that they were pulling no punches. Mr. Yankovic gave his all even to the tiny fan-base in Vernon BC. He is a good man, and he works very hard for his fans.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-22 13:47:07Is it just me or has Weird Al's songs gotten more political over the years?
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-22 14:35:58This album just confirmed again what I already felt with 'Straight Outta Lynwood': Al is an absolutely perfect musician/composer/producer, outstanding in that respect! But he is a bad comedian! He just reproduces the same humor he has already been using for 30 years by now. I know it has become hard these days to compete against all those parodists and comedians on internet media, as well as against all these short living mainstream productions which have become a persiflage of their own. But I can't see Al even trying to adjust his methods to the year 2011. BTW I really like 'Skipper Dan', which for me is rather a sad than a funny song.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-22 17:52:38From here on out, the final track will be my official theme song.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-22 19:01:13awesomeness!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-22 23:39:04Nothing will ever top "Dare To Be Stupid!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-23 02:34:39That Tattoo is doing it! Pretty good album.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-23 02:57:12Genius, Al! Thank you. And thank you for streaming the album! Will definitely be buying for me and the kids.
FWIW, I've been a fan for years, and have to say that many of the covers you do are how I hear about the songs for the first time. Doh!
Thanks again, Al! GREAT ALBUM!!!!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-23 04:27:30YAWN.
I take it the vast majority of comment above mine are ironic and you think this is as dated and irrelavent as I do.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-23 11:32:03The material on this album doesn't resonate with me like his earlier stuff does. The source material he's using is highly corporate crap. When I look at the album cover and pick out which horseman of the Alpocalypse he is supposed to be, it is famine. Which is highly appropriate.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-23 13:42:54Superb - nothing short of genius. And, in contrast to others who did not like "Craigstlist" I have quite enjoyed it, and it is probably one of my favourite tracks! Thank you, Al for another memorable album.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-23 14:58:44OMG!I love all of his songs on this new album!(especially polka face and preform this way!)
Nice job Al!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-23 15:00:22Oh and everybody that is hating this then, you have no taste in music cuz weird al rocks!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-23 15:01:35I think weird al's album are getting better
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-23 15:02:59cool! but i just dont like "craigslist"
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-23 15:04:01I DISAGREE I LUV "CRAIGLIST"
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-23 21:44:07It's a fun listen.....another good AL album!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-23 22:42:12the only reason this album isn't as good as we thought is because the origional songs all suck... he didn't have a "clean canvas"
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-24 01:15:07I feel about this album like i've felt about all his albums: I like or love four or five, and don't care much for the rest. And I still love Weird Al.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-24 16:54:25Rock out guy! 1, 7, and 9 blow my mind. Been listening since to 1991. great album man.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-24 17:28:52Weird Al rides again! Even with crap for material, he comes up with a brilliant, interesting, side-splitting album. How does he do that???
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-24 17:55:28Love It!! Can't wait to get my own copy.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-25 01:21:56At the concert I went to he sang skipper down we were clappin almost the whole song IT WAS SO COOL!!!!! :D It was in Pittsburgh, May 22nd it was so cool!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-26 06:26:12In Polka Face, the melody immediately before Tik Tok is the Tick Tock Polka. I wonder how many people actually get that joke.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-26 14:29:54how can i get this? i loved him for a very long time. sally mae rutkowski
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-27 03:43:03I have to agree with Nameless...The parodies can only be as good as the original content. The music he started doing parodies of was much better. I still cant hear most of the original songs without replacing the lyrics with Al's work. Love the work, the band still sounds great. Cant wait till the next one. Always love the Polkas.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-28 08:35:47Parody =/= pants-wetting-hilarity. Some are hit, some are miss.
I tend to agree with the fact that Al doesn't have much to work with. Most songs now stick to a very generic formula, so it's hard to make different parodies of essentially the same song over and over.
However, I do enjoy the parodies. I bet when Al's next album comes out, you'll love this one.
Even shoes are uncomfortable until you break them in. Just give it time.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-28 23:02:20guess I'm getting old. Don't recognize any of the songs this time around. Its good, just not as funny to me if I knew what the original was.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-29 12:01:29i was never a fan of Al's but have laughed or smiled through the whole thing!!!!! lol Rebecca W. from MI.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-29 12:03:32I might have to buy it!!!! I just might become A fan!!! I think it is soooooo funny. Rebecca W.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-29 12:06:22I have read a lot of the posts. I guess some people don't have a sense of humor or are depressed because this is really coooool. Rebecca W.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-29 12:08:52ANOTHER TATTOO IS AWESOME!!!!!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-29 16:48:48he has still got it... this man will be making albums untill the end of time
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-29 21:03:18nameless you are not a weird AL Yankovic fan. i'm a fan. This CD is good like the other ones
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-30 00:03:41i would have already bought this album but now that i have listened to it i may buy it twice... ok i only have enough money to buy it once
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-30 08:31:43I've been streaming this CD constantly for days...I've had most Weird Al songs memorized so I've got to get these new ones down. I'm not sure if it's my favorite CD but my goodness! I hope he never stops making these! Al, if you're out there, I need this music! "I'm your biggest fan!"
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-07-01 12:08:10I haven't read all the posts here, but I did see someone who said he knew Al's father from the Lawrence Welk show... sorry, but you're thinking of Frankie Yankovic - who was NOT Al's father. Al's parents were Nick & Mary Yankovic and neither one was a celebrity, musical or otherwise, except when they made the occasional appearance in one of Al's videos or TV specials. Sorry if someone already posted this info, but like I said, I haven't read all the posts.
My own two cents' worth - I agree with the people who are commenting that the current state of music doesn't leave much worth parodying. I feel precisely the same way. Al's originals are often much better (IMHO) that the parodies, especially since most of what he has to work with these days are songs or artists I would never listen to on my own, Lady Gaga included. I don't know a single song parodied (or polkafied) on this album (or, frankly, most of the previous ones).
Still - no denying he's a genius at what he does... and has a top-notch band behind him, too, FWIW.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-07-06 03:28:001,2,3,4,5,7,10 = Epic everything else = crap
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-07-06 16:08:37Nameless Poseur is a jerk and totally wrong.
On the other hand Nameless Poseur is totally right, I couldn't agree more.
Rock on Al
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-07-07 18:38:29Party in the USA is obnoxiously one of the worst songs ever made, which is why Party in the CIA is possibly the funniest and best parody Al has ever done.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-07-08 22:44:29To the 9th Nameless Poseur, XDDDD It IS Even Worse. I bought it myself, just to make sure.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-07-12 22:34:22Pure gold....thanks for another one, Al...
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-07-14 12:09:39I like it! We heard Just Eat It on the radio the other day, and my 11 year old thought it was the funniest thing. Now I want to download this so she can relate to current music. Keep going Al!!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-07-14 12:44:48Track 2 ROCKS!, Why can't "real" artists rock like that???
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-07-15 19:10:21Another Tattoo makes me laugh every time I hear it. It's an instant Weird Al classic.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-07-16 08:35:19Once agian Al has done what he does best. There is no one who can come up with lyrics like he does to make us laugh. Keep on rocking Al and great album.

Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-07-18 20:04:38go al !
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-07-19 00:38:12Ha, Al is pestilence. (not a insult, album cover)
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-07-20 15:39:49Most of this album is phenomenal! Great job on this one Weird Al!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-07-21 12:18:37I thought it is very entertaining, Some I definitely enjoyed more than the rest, but I thought it was very well done. Good job Al.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-07-27 13:16:59Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-06-14 17:47:30 DID YOU NOT LISTEN TO POLKA FACE?
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-08-02 11:25:28weirdal rocks so all u haterz can shut the up
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-08-03 20:19:47Loved it. Call me crazy but I'm gonna buy it!
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-08-09 14:40:45As far as Al's past albums go, this one is so-so. CNR was good back when I got it from Internet Leaks. The last song and Skipper Dan are fun, and the polka is good, but, compared to Running With Scissors or Fat, it's OK.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-08-09 18:24:18I think that Party in the CIA is my favorite of the lot, because it feels most like a classic Al song while incorporating his ever-hilarious dark humor.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-08-09 22:42:15Weird Al rules! I'm so glad another album is out
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-08-14 21:26:38WOW! A lot of Nameless Poseurs on here.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-09-02 18:59:12i wouldnt go as far as to say its the best albulm, but it is pretty good. and, as always, the polkas the best.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-09-05 18:58:44This is a pretty good album...the best however is OFF THE DEEP END
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-09-06 15:58:26Fun Al-bum, but not one of his best. As somebody else said, Al's really only as good as the songs and artists he's parodying, and while he can sometimes improve a crappy song like Party In The U.S.A. with his great lyrics, if the music's not great or the parody isn't on an ESPECIALLY funny subject, then it can't ever reach the heights of his best work. The polka's typically great, though, and like his last two or three albums, his originals are the standouts here, not the parodies.
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-09-11 08:05:48Have you listiened to this album? Have you listiened to it...on weed?
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-09-11 08:08:05best album was even worse, best songs off that album were good ole days and melanie (my opinion) and to the guy that doesn't know CNR ur too young to know anything or u live under a rock. skipper dan i do believe is just a made up guy though for the song
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-09-17 10:13:52this album is awsome
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-09-20 12:57:59I really like the new polka, and craigslist is effin awesome, but I didn't like listening to most of the rest of it
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-09-21 22:55:44I think this is the first time 2 generations of performers have been parodied:
1. Achy Breaky Song from Alapalooza. Father Billy Ray Cyrus
2. Party in the CIA (brilliant) from Alpocalypse. Daughter Miley Cyrus
Posted by Nameless Poseur On 2011-09-27 16:38:50I think I'm going to get another tatoo, and that song inspired me to make it a full back tat of weird al ala steve-o thumbs up al!!
Posted by Ranta On 2011-10-05 20:51:01Wow... This just keeps on being one of Exclaim's most popular articles. It sure is nice to see a guy get his due after 30 years of hard work. Good on him, and good on the fans.
