"The Investigation"
By Alex HudsonUmberto, the recording guise of Nevada experimentalist Matt Hill (who performs as part of Expo 70), has signed a deal with Mogwai's Rock Action and on November 20 will release his album Night Has a Thousand Screams. You can preview what that record will sound like by checking out the newly revealed album offering "The Investigation."
This Goblin-y six-minute electro cut sets a dark mood with its crunchy beats and ominously droning synths. Things get a little brighter around the two-minute mark thanks to some warm and woozy keyboard tones, although it gets eerie again in the last couple of minutes. So essentially, Umberto hasn't lost any of his love for Italian horror scores.
