"The Uncomfortable Truth"

By Ian GormelyTRACK OF THE DAY: If you haven't already heard Nigerian singer Nneka, chances are you soon will. Already a sensation both at home and across Europe, the chanteuse was recently tipped by Spin Magazine as "The Next R&B Ingénue." She's already opened for Sean Paul and had the Roots operate as her backing band when she hit New York last year.

The singer fell in love with American hip-hop after moving to Germany when she was 18, and is clearly influenced by Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill, mixing the style of the American R&B queens with traces of Fela Kuti and Bob Marley.

Don't believe the hype? Then check out "The Uncomfortable Truth," the first single off her North American debut, Concrete Jungle. The album is a compilation of her European releases, including tracks from Victim of Truth where the song originally appeared. The album is out February 2, or you can download The Uncomfortable Truth EP over at itunes now.
