Failure Epics

'Failure Epics' (album stream)

By Sarah MurphyCanadian songsmith Jon Epworth has covered a vast array of musical stylings between his work with the Dean Malenkos, the Improvements and his own solo material. He's back again under the new moniker Failure Epics, and Exclaim! is streaming the new album of the same name now.

Primarily based out of Nova Scotia, Epworth's latest project claims to draw inspiration from King Crimson and Yes, in addition to various modern metal acts. The themes behind the album are not particularly cheery, with the press release describing them like this:

"The theme is based around the concept of a maculate conception -- a new species willed into existence by the earth's consciousness; disease and waste incarnate, born solely for the evisceration of the human race: born sexless, born bloodless. It serves as an allegory for the plight of animals, womankind and our natural environs -- three entities continually oppressed and inextricably linked."

Failure Epics follows Epworth's 2011 effort Soul Mange. The new LP is out on February 28 via Diminished Fifth Records, but you can stream it below now.
