"Gun Has No Trigger"
By Gregory AdamsDirty Projectors still haven't delivered the details on the supposed spring launch of their follow-up to 2009's acclaimed Bitte Orca, but the Brooklyn art pop troupe must be getting close, as they've just offered up the first sample from the new platter, "Gun Has No Trigger."
Soft and supple "oohs" are strung out throughout the number by band members Amber Coffman, Angel Deradoorian and Haley Dekle, who support frontman Dave Longstreth's passionate calls. Longstreth's chaotic cries have been reined in slightly, making for one of his most technically perfect, though no less passionate, performances. Considering the fullness of the choir arrangement, you might not realize until it's over that all that's left to fill out the song is a simple boom-bap beat.
