"Appalachia"
By Gregory AdamsMysterious folkster Chelsea Wolfe has been dropping teaser clips from her upcoming album Unknown Rooms since it was announced in the summer, and up next is a moody strummer called "Appalachia."
The track, which you can stream below, gets by on a simple drum beat and moody fuzz-bass, but the real highlight is the spectral interweaving of violin runs and Wolfe's doom-and-gloom falsetto. There's also a momentary campfire-style sing-along at the end, which was no doubt recorded while everyone was making toasting marshmallows towards the gothiest shade of black.
As previously reported, Unknown Rooms arrives October 16 via Sargent House.
