Zenith Myth

"Shadow Fortune"

Ottawa-born, Los Angeles-based music maker Mike Edwards is set to return with his sophomore full-length as Zenith Myth, but before the new record lands, Exclaim! is giving you a taste of the new material with the premiere of album cut "Shadow Fortune."

Eclipsed V hears Edwards experimenting with a heavier electronic sound. In addition to pulsating with Krautrock-esque beats, the new record blends "mid tempo arpeggio synths with intricate drum programming to bend genres and sounds." Traditional instrumentation isn't entirely abandoned, as six guitarists play throughout the record and drums drive the beat, though drones and modulated synthesizers definitely rise to the forefront of the dreamy soundscapes offered up on the new set of songs.

"Shadow Fortune" is the first sampling of the experimental new sound, and it's a slow-building piece that harkens back to retro rock'n'roll, while playing with futuristic noise. "Think 80's synths progressions, over classic 70's rock drum fills, and you pretty much get the idea of what Eclipsed V sounds like," said Edwards in a statement about the new track.

Eclipsed V officially arrives on August 21, but you can give "Shadow Fortune" a spin in the player below, right now.
