Yukon Blonde

"Saturday Night"

Vancouver-based songwriter Jeff Innes went solo as High Ends last year, but now he's back with his pop-rock band Yukon Blonde for a new album. While the full specs of the LP haven't yet been announced, they have given us a preview of what's in store by sharing the singe "Saturday Night."

This isn't too radical of a departure from what fans are used to from the band, in that it's a hook-filled pop-rock number. That being said, the dreamscape synths, buzzing low end and watery guitars mark a new direction for Yukon Blonde. While the band's past work has often been compared to music from the '60s or '70s, this tune sounds more like the '80s.

This was co-produced by returning studio buddy Colin Stewart (Dan Mangan, the New Pornographers) at his Hive studio. It was mixed by Tony Hoffer (M83, Beck, Pheonix).
