Young Thug Charged with Drug and Weapon Violations, Named with Birdman in Lil Wayne Murder Plot

Yesterday (July 15), Young Thug was arrested for allegedly threatening the life of a mall cop. While the Internet was busy cracking Paul Blart jokes, however, Thug's indictment turned out to be a little more sinister. Though nothing's been proven, he and Cash Money leader Bryan "Baby" Williams (a.k.a. Birdman) have been named in relation to a Lil Wayne shooting earlier this year. Further, he's apparently been charged with drug and weapon violations.

As previously reported, the suspect who allegedly shot up Wayne's bus in April was Jimmy Winfrey (a.k.a. Peewee Roscoe), a collaborator and tour manager for Young Thug. The recently leaked indictment from Thug's arrest offers more information on what allegedly went down.

Georgia District Attorney D. Victor Reynolds has pieced together his own take on what happened the night of Lil Wayne's shooting. Using phone records, he's determined that Young Thug was the last person Winfrey spoke to before opening fire on Lil Wayne's tour bus. He's also figured out that right after the shooting, Winfrey contacted Williams.

According to the report, Winfrey and some other Bloods were in attendance at Lil Wayne's concert that evening. Winfrey was driving a 2015 Camaro, and had an assault rifle on board. After the show, the police opted to escort Wayne and his two tour buses to the highway.

Once the police left the convoy, Winfrey and his cronies allegedly opened fire on the bus using a 9mm handgun and a .40 calibre handgun. After this, Winfrey is on record as calling Williams.

Winfrey then allegedly hid his Camaro, deleting any record of it from his Instagram, before fleeing to Miami.

Of course, neither Young Thug nor Birdman has officially been charged in relation to the Lil Wayne shooting, though the indictment does appear to connect them to the event.

Further, Mike Petchenik of Atlanta's WSBTV has reported the breaking news that Young Thug has been charged with drug and weapon violations after police raided his home. It's a developing story, so we'll update when we have more information.
