Wye Oak Spinoff Dungeonesse Sign to Secretly Canadian, Share New Single

Jenn Wasner is best known as the voice of Wye Oak, but having recently released a solo single as Flock of Dimes, she has now united with fellow Baltimore native Jon Ehrens (White Life, the Art Department) under the banner Dungeonesse.

This project finds the pair exploring their love of Top 40 hits and R&B, and their tracks were conceived remotely when Ehrens would record tracks in L.A. and send them to Wasner on tour.

A press release explains, "The resulting songs are part party machine programming, and part homage to the great tradition of R&B vocals which retain an experimental and playful inner beauty while leading the charge to a dance floor of abundantly inclusive and carefree spirits."

The band have inked a deal with Secretly Canadian (unlike Wye Oak, who are signed with Merge). Their first release is a poppy single called "Drive You Crazy." You can watch the glitter-strewn music video below.

The single will be released digitally and on 12-inch vinyl on December 4. Pre-order a copy right here.

A full-length album is expected to follow in 2013.
