Wild Child Sign to Dine Alone for 'Fools' LP, Share New Single

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jul 7, 2015

Austin-based indie popsters Wild Child are gearing up to release their third studio album, and it has now been announced that the forthcoming record will be finding a home in Canada through Dine Alone. Titled Fools, the new album is due out on October 2 through the Canadian imprint, with Dualtone handling the release in the U.S.

Though the musical collective is composed of seven members, the majority of the new set of songs were composed by Alexander Beggins (ukuele/vocals) and Kelsey Wilson (violin/vocals). The songwriting duo specialize in taking deep, painful emotions and brightening them up with cheerful, infectious melodies.

It's a tactic that they stick to on the album's lead single "Fools." A press release notes that the album's title track is about a particularly manipulative relationship, but despite the heavy topic, "Wild Child presents their songs so joyously that you're dancing and smiling before you realize the subject matter."

The rest of the new material follows suit, transforming "sad real life stories" into upbeat musical testaments "to the power of music and the art of living." You can get an idea of what that sounds like by streaming "Fools" in the player below.
