The Weeknd Puts Out Open Call for Toronto-Area Guitarists and Bassists

Still disappointed that you didn't pass the audition to become the Smashing Pumpkins' new bassist or keyboardist? Don't sweat it. Aspiring Toronto-area musicians could soon have a chance to join the Weeknd's live band, since R&B singer Abel Tesfaye has put out a request for guitarists and bassists.

This afternoon (January 4), the singer created a Facebook event with the following message:

The Weeknd is looking for a professional guitarist and bass player in or around the Toronto area to travel and perform live in concert. Those interested please send all information to:

theweekndband@gmail.com

Include: name, age, instrument, and a photograph if possible. Any additional youtube video footage, credentials, etc. of performer is welcome.

Serious inquiries only please.

Deadline is Sunday January 8, 2012

You know what that means: if you play an instrument and live in or around Toronto, record a couple of videos and send them Abel's way before the end of the weekend. And even if you don't play an instrument, you can add the Weeknd's email to your address book and feel really cool about yourself.

Even better, this means that the Weeknd may finally be touring next year, rather making only sporadic live appearances.
