Wanna Play as Oderus Urungus on 'Mortal Kombat'? There's a Petition for That

Ever dreamed of using Gwar singer Oderus Urungus as a Mortal Kombat character so you could finish off Sub-Zero with a swing of your mighty, meaty cuttlefish? Well, oddly enough you're not alone, as a petition is being circulated to have the late scumdog added to the upcoming Mortal Kombat X videogame as a playable character.

A Gwar-loving gamer named Boston Brand (which we think may be a DC comics-indebted pseudonym in honour of this guy) recently started the media-mashing petition on The Petition Site to tribute the intergalactic barbarian, played by the band's late vocalist, Dave Brockie. The singer passed away in 2014.

Brand thinks Oderus belongs in next instalment of the long-running fighting series, due April 14 through NetherRealm, insinuating the out-of-this-world personality of the character could easily rub shoulder-to-shoulder with multi-armed mutilator Goro, charged-up thunder god Raiden, ghost ninja Scorpion and other assorted blood-squirters.

"Oderus was as hilarious as he was viscous, and also one of the most colorful and creative characters not only in rock history, but also history in general," the petition states. "Though his music will live on, what better way would there be to further immortalize (toasty) Oderus Urungus then to have him be a playable character on Mortal Kombat X."

So far over 3,800 Gwar fans have signed the petition. Whether the metal monster will be animated into the game, forcing foes to bow down before the Cuttlefish of Cthulhu before being beheaded by the powerful sword of Unt Lick remains to be seen.

You can sign the petition here.
