Walls of Jericho

Redemption

BY Dave SynyardPublished Apr 28, 2008

Considering the amalgamated fury of Candace Kucsulain’s vocals on With Devils Among Us All, backed by the buzzing guitar sound and hardcore punk percussion, Redemption makes Walls Of Jericho sound like an entirely different band. Surprisingly, Kucsulain’s harmonies are an endearing attribute and on "My Last Stand” are only magnified by the soft piano and bluesy acoustic guitars. It’s quite surprising how much beauty lies behind this normally aggressive metal band, as every member’s input combines to create a folksy, serene piece like "No Saving Me,” where a combination of epic sounds and Johnny Cash sadness meets orchestral work. With only five tracks, Redemption’s failing brevity but it should be a light change of pace for WOJ and their fans.
