Vilipend Announce Debut LP

BY Alex HudsonPublished Apr 10, 2012

Having melted faces and exploded speakers with their previous short-form releases, Toronto noisecore champs Vilipend have now teamed with A389 Recordings to put out their first LP, Inamorata, this summer.

The album was made in the wake of a frightening injury that saw frontman Christopher Gramlich (who, in the interest of full disclosure, is a staffer here at Exclaim!) break his L-1 vertebra, wrist and finger during a 2009 live show.

Thanks to what a press release refers to as "an absurd abuse of
painkillers," the band created a collection of songs that "embodies the frustration, uncertainty, desperation, loss, resignation and hurt of that period, the desire to recapture what was lost and emerge stronger than before, tempered."

The results are said to be more refined than Vilipend's usual live dissonance, and achieve "greater sonic lushness, conceptual richness and thematic depth" than what the Vilipend have done previously.
