Vilipend

'Inamorata' (album stream)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Aug 14, 2012

As previously reported, Toronto, ON aggressive music warriors Vilipend are set to release their debut full-length, Inamorata. Inamorata is being released on vinyl via Baltimore arbiter of abrasion A389 Recordings and on limited edition CD digipak by Canadian noise institution No List Records. But you can stream the entire album right here, right now.

Formed in 2007, Vilipend met with some cruel fate in 2009 when vocalist (and Exclaim! staffer) Christopher Gramlich was hospitalized with a broken L-1 vertebra after leaping offstage at Toronto's Mod Club.

But thanks to "medical science and an absurd abuse of painkillers," Gramlich and the band managed to deliver their Plague Bearer seven-inch and digital release Northern Hostility: Live in Ajax following the injury and recovery period. Now, Inamorata is finally upon us, and it has been described as "a disorienting malaise of melody, noise, brutality and aggression conducted seamlessly from opening flash to its dying embers" and Vilipend's "most ambitious" offering to date.

The material "embodies the frustration, uncertainty, desperation, loss, resignation and hurt of that period," but also the "the desire to recapture what was lost and emerge stronger than before."

Hear the results by streaming Vilipend's crushing debut LP, Inamorata, below.
