Fat Mike has outdone himself this time, compiling over 100 of the most notorious new and old punk bands for Short Music for Short People. The novelty is that the songs are all under 30 seconds. Since each band only has a 30 second blur to get their music into the aural cavities of the listeners, the songs are of condensed quality, rather than drawn out mediocrity. The true stand outs are Less Than Jake, Terrorgruppe, No Use for A Name, Descendents, Jugheads Revenge, Circle Jerks, Mad Caddies, Pennywise, Anti-Flag, Snuff, the Queers, NOFX, AFI, Consumed, the Dickies, Samiam, Youth Brigade, and Strung Out. But there is still a plethora of other great songs and artists on this compilation. In all likelihood, if there’s a punk band you can think of, they’re on this compilation. If, Short Music for Short People represents the standard for which Fat Mike is doing things these days, then I can’t wait to see what comes out of his arse in the future. Kudos to Fat Wreck Chords for another prime platter!
