Vår

"Into Distance"

BY Gregory AdamsPublished May 9, 2013

Vår previously teased their debut LP No One Dances Quite Like My Brothers with the chilly cold-wave stomp "The World Fell," but the outfit melt hearts on the latest sneak peek, "Into Distance."

While pre-programmed drum beat marked previous Vår recordings, "Into Distance" has a steady snare roll and primal bass drum poundings mingling with the manic strum of an acoustic guitar, booming brass, and impassioned vocal moans. Overall, the track flirts with atmospheric '80s pop as much it does Sean Ragon's neo-folk project Cult of Youth, which kind of makes sense since Vår cut their LP in Ragon's studio in Bushwick, NY.

No One Dances Quite Like My Brothers arrives May 14 through Sacred Bones.
