Vampire Weekend Plan Spring Release for New Album

BY Stephen CarlickPublished Jan 4, 2013

It's been an internet while since jaunty pop quartet Vampire Weekend released their last album. That will change soon, though, as the band have revealed plans to drop their third, as-yet-untitled record as early as this spring.

In an interview with Q [via Consequence of Sound] singer Ezra Koenig revealed that the album was being produced by Ariel Rechtshaid (Usher, Major Lazer, Charli XCX) and VW member/producer extraordinaire Rostam Batmanglij, calling it "dark" and "organic."

"We created some characters on the first record, some of which are real people, some of which are ourselves, so it's not so hard to keep following them and see what their concerns are now and how their lives have changed," Koenig said.

No word yet on whether Vampire Weekend's follow-up to Contra will included the recently revealed "Unbelievers," but we've got our ear to the ground for a tracklist and official release date. Watch the band's performance of "Unbelievers" on Jimmy Kimmel below.
