Twisted Sister aren't going to take it anymore — touring, that is. The veteran rock band have been around for 40 years, and they plan to say goodbye in 2016 with their final tour.
The outing will be called the "Forty and Fuck It" tour. Technically speaking, Twisted Sister have been using their name since the early '70s, but 1976 was when frontman Dee Snider joined and the band started gaining some traction.
This farewell tour follows the recent death of drummer A.J. Pero, who passed away suddenly last month. The band's lineup will include replacement Mike Portnoy, a drummer best known as a co-founder of Dream Theater.
An announcement from Twisted Sister specifies that the "Forty and Fuck It" outing "will formally close the touring chapter of their illustrious and legendary career." It's not clear if they will break up for good, or if it's possible that they will continue to record together in the future.
In the meantime, Twisted Sister will remember Pero with two tribute gigs this spring: May 30 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and June 13 at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ. The former gig will be filmed for broadcast, DVD and CD, so we can expect a live album soon.
The band will also honour their previously scheduled 2015 gigs.
